
Abies oil
(Common name: Himalayan silver fir, Vernacular name:Talispatra, Gobresalla, Botanical name: Abies spectabilis (D.Don) Mirb.)
The plant is distributed throughout Nepal forming a dense forest at an altitude 2400-4000m. Also found in the Himalayas (Kashmir to Nepal), Pakistan, Afghanistan to Bhutan.
Parts used: Leaves.
Active constituents: Mainly Santene, pinene, limonene, bornyl acetate.
Uses:
a) Aromatherapy: Arthritis, muscular aches and pains, rheumatism, bronchitis, coughs, sinusitis.
b) As a fragrance component in deodorants, room sprays, disinfectants, soaps and perfumes.
