Botanical name: Ocimum basilicum L. Distributed in East and Central Nepal at 300‐1500m in open, sunny places.

Parts used: Arial parts.
 
Traditional uses: Bronchitis, cough, cold, asthma and flu; also used as antidote to poisonous insect bites.
 
Aromatherapeutic uses:
Skin care: Insect bites, insect repellent, assists hair growth and adds luster to dull hair, acne, skin tonic.
