Jatamansi Oil

(Common name: Spikenard, Vernacular name:    Bhulte, Jatamansi, Botanical name: Nardostachys grandiflora DC.)

The plant grows throughout Nepal at an altitude between 3200-5000m, as well as in the Himalayas (Uttar Pradesh to Bhutan), W. China. Parts used: Rootstocks.
Active constituents: Mainly Patchoulene, jatamansone, nardol, valeranone

Uses: 
a) In perfumery and in flavors as a modifier for valerian, hop, ginger etc.
b) Aromatherapy: Sedative, antihypertensive
