Nepali handmade paper is well-known for its unique strength, softness, and durability. Handmade paper has been produced in traditional ways in the hill districts of Nepal since the twelfth century AD. Known for its long lasting qualities, handmade paper was used for official state documents, and today, legal documents in Nepal are still prepared with handmade papers, as they are compatible with modern printing technology.

HBTL's handmade paper is crafted from Lokta bark (Daphne bholua/D. papyracea), responsibly harvested from certified Himalayan forests. The rural indigenous communities who manage the forests have established an innovative model enterprise, and produce a wide range of paper products which are then custom dyed, printed and assembled in Kathmandu.

HBTL’s handmade paper products are available in a vast array of colors, textures, patterns and prints. We take pride in our products' high quality of material and craftsmanship; our products can be customized (printed logos, graphics, different sizes, colors, designs and paper weight).
